Best time In China

In the school  holidays I joined the school trip to China. It was fantastic getting to know parents, students and staff on a much closer level. I enjoyed every minute of the tour including my fellow travellers company(good and bad jokes included) and of course the amazing sights of China. It was fantastic to catch up with Diana and Jo and to see their school again. What an amazing time we live in where we can wake up in Paynesville one day and the next you are in China! The whole experience was a real privilege and it reminded me of how lucky we are to live in our own little slice of paradise.
It was awesome to catch up with Diana, Tao and Kelly. For the record Diana's husband is the Suzhou Region table tennis champion - he is quite good!

On my way back from the Great Wall - I found a couple of mates who could be Kiwis!

A Special Time at Bairnsdale West

Last Wednesday our school student leadership team travelled to Bairnsdale West Primary School and attended the Reconciliation Assembly. This was a very moving event that reminded us all of the importance of standing up in support of indigenous culture, families and education. The Paynesville students who attended all had an increased awareness of what reconciliation is all about and what part they can play. It was a privilege to attend. Thank you to the students, staff and families of Bairnsdale West.

Learning Focus 2015

This year teachers are working together to improve student performance in writing. Teachers will undertake a range of professional learning programs that will support students to have the skills and confidence to be successful writers.

Our other area of focus is developing orderly classrooms. This refers to creating engaging classroom environments and engaging classroom programs based on strong routines and organisation. Orderly classrooms also refer to students behaving in a manner that supports their own learning and the learning of others.

So at PPS we continue to be vigilant in our approach to improve our learning standards undermined by orderly classrooms that are supportive and focused on learning.

Don't forget our "Meet the Teacher" evening tonight.  Classroom's will be open from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  All welcome.

Welcome to 2015...

What a fantastic start to the year for Paynesville Primary School.
We have started the year with seven classes and everyone has been working extremely hard already.  We would like to welcome Lisa Hudson and Kate Radford to our staff this year and wish them well on the year ahead.

We are full swing into our Grade 3 to 6 swimming program and the students are coping well with the lessons and organising themselves.

We had our second assembly on Monday and this was run by our new School Captains Aleksia and Logan. Congratulations on a job well done.

Next week on Thursday February 19th we will be having a "Meet the Teacher" night.  This is an informal night where families can come along and have a look at the children's classes and meet the teachers.  School rooms will be open from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Remember that this time of year can be warm and we encourage our students to remember hats, sunscreen and water...

Have a great week...
